Movie poster of the week: Dear Zachary

October 31, 2008

There is definitely not enough illustration in movie posters these days, nor are there enough trees, so I was excited to see this wonderful design by Oregon artist Evan B. Harris—one of the best new film posters I’ve seen all year—for the documentary Dear Zachary. Harris’ work reminds me of that of James Braithwaite, and even more of Decemberists illustrator (and wife of Colin Meloy) Carson Ellis, who I’m a huge fan of, and who is also from Portland. This poster begs to be seen up close (you can see the details here). Dear Zachary opens today, released by the good folks at Oscilloscope. (Meanwhile, occasional wind-in-the-trees commenter Ann might be interested in Carson Ellis’s other blog here.)
